Privacy & Terms
How GatherPoint works and how we handle your information.
Quick Summary
GatherPoint is built for local, wholesome community events. Members should be honest, respectful, and careful when creating events, requesting RSVPs, messaging, or meeting in person.
Privacy Policy
Your account and profile
Your email, how you sign in (email, Google, or Apple), and the profile you fill in: name, photo, city, bio, interests, ward and stake, and date of birth. Your birth date is used to confirm you are 18 or older and to show hosts an age range; hosts never see the date itself.
Phone and ID checks
To confirm your phone, your number is sent to Twilio, which texts you a code. GatherPoint keeps only the last four digits and a scrambled copy used to stop one number from being used on several accounts. Photo ID checks are run by Stripe Identity; GatherPoint keeps only the result (verified or not, and whether you are 18 or older), never your ID images.
Events and location
Events you host, including their address. When a host hides the exact address, guests see only a general area until they are approved. GatherPoint does not use your device's location; your city is whatever you type.
RSVPs, messages, and attendance
Your requests to join events and any note to the host, messages you send and receive, and whether a host marked you as having come to an event. When you ask to join, the host sees your name, photo, age range, city, ward, verification status, and how many events you came to. Never your email, phone number, or address.
Video intros
Some hosts ask for a short video when you ask to join. Recording one is your choice. Before the host sees it, still images from the video are checked by an AI service for inappropriate content. Only that event's hosts and co-hosts (and GatherPoint admins, if a video is reported) can watch it, through links that expire after a few minutes. You can delete your video at any time, and no one can open it starting 7 days after the event. The file stays in locked storage that nobody can view.
Payments
Paid plans and Event Boosts are processed by Stripe. GatherPoint stores your Stripe customer and subscription references and what you bought, never your card number.
Safety records
Reports, blocks, and moderation actions, used to help keep the community safer.
How GatherPoint uses the app
How you found GatherPoint (for example a shared event link, or your answer to "How did you hear about us?"), when you last opened the app, which features members use, which plans and paid features they look at, and short answers to optional questions like "why not upgrade?", so we can tell what is worth building. Event details are sent to an AI image service when a host asks GatherPoint to create a cover photo. There are no advertising trackers, and GatherPoint does not sell your information.
Companies that handle your information for us
- Base44 hosts the app and stores its data, and creates AI cover photos.
- Twilio sends phone confirmation codes.
- Stripe takes payments and runs photo ID checks.
- Google and Apple only if you choose to sign in with them.
Your information is kept while your account is open. You can see and change your profile at any time, and delete your account and its data from the Account page. GatherPoint is for adults 18 and older and does not knowingly collect information from anyone younger.

Terms of Service
18+ Eligibility
GatherPoint is intended for adults. Users are responsible for providing accurate information during registration and onboarding.
User Responsibility
Users are responsible for their profiles, messages, RSVP behavior, event attendance, and interactions with other members.
Host Responsibility
Hosts are responsible for posting honest event information, reviewing RSVP requests responsibly, communicating clearly, and following GatherPoint safety expectations. Each gathering should have one listing: listing the same event more than once, for example to get around guest limits, may lead to the extra listings being removed.
Community Standards
Every member agrees to the GatherPoint Promise and the Community Guidelines (on the Safety & guidelines page), which are part of these Terms. GatherPoint events are alcohol-, drug- and smoke-free. Harassment, abusive behavior, fake profiles, misleading events, spam, scams, inappropriate content, and unsafe behavior are not allowed.
Moderation
GatherPoint may review reports, remove content, limit features, suspend accounts, or remove accounts when needed to protect the community.
Community-Organized Events
Events are organized by community members, not by GatherPoint. GatherPoint does not plan, run, supervise, inspect, or insure events, and does not guarantee event safety, attendance, transportation, supervision, or outcomes. GatherPoint is independent and is not owned, sponsored, or endorsed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any other organization.
Your Choice and Risks
Many events involve physical activity, travel, the outdoors, water, food, or meeting people you don't know, and these carry risks, including injury, illness, property loss, or worse. You decide which events to join, you are responsible for knowing your own limits and preparing, and you take part at your own risk. Hosts are asked to describe anything risky, but a missing note doesn't mean an event has no risk.
Release
To the fullest extent the law allows, you release GatherPoint and its owners, employees, and contractors from claims, damages, and losses arising out of events, rides, lodging, or your interactions with other members, whether online or in person. This doesn't release anyone from liability that the law doesn't allow to be released, such as for gross negligence or intentional harm.
No Background Checks
GatherPoint does not run criminal background checks. Phone confirmation shows a member has a working number. The Verified badge means a photo ID matched the person at the time they verified. Neither is a guarantee about who someone is or how they will behave. Use good judgment, meet in public or group settings, and report concerns.
The App Is Provided As Is
GatherPoint is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will always work, be error-free, or meet every need, and we disclaim implied warranties such as fitness for a particular purpose.
Limit of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, GatherPoint is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for anything that happens at an event or between members. GatherPoint's total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid GatherPoint in the 12 months before the claim, or $50.
Covering GatherPoint
If your conduct, your content, or an event you host leads to a claim against GatherPoint, you agree to cover GatherPoint's reasonable losses and costs from that claim, including reasonable attorney's fees, to the extent the law allows.
Paid Features
Plans renew monthly until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime from the billing page. Extras and Boosts apply to the event they were bought for. Payments are processed by Stripe. Refunds are at GatherPoint's discretion unless the law requires otherwise.
Disagreements
If you have a concern, email support@gatherpointapp.com first and we'll try to work it out within 30 days. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Utah, except that either side may use small claims court where it qualifies.
Changes and Ending Your Account
We may update these Terms, the Privacy Policy, or the Community Guidelines. When we make changes members should know about, we'll show the update in the app and ask you to agree before you keep using GatherPoint. You can delete your account anytime from Account. GatherPoint may pause or close accounts that break these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
Account Deletion Policy
Members can delete their account at any time from their Account page. Deletion happens right away: it cancels any paid plan, cancels upcoming events the member hosts (guests are told), and removes their profile, RSVPs, messages, blocks, and phone and ID check records. GatherPoint may need to retain limited safety, moderation, legal, or transaction-related records when required to protect users, prevent abuse, or comply with applicable obligations.
